Definition

  • This assay detects RNA from Parainfluenza virus types 1-4 in nasopharyngeal swabs using PCR and non-probe detection methods, such as melt curve analysis. A single Parainfluenza virus result is reported when any of the four subtypes are detected. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, BioFire Diagnostic FilmArray Respiratory Panel EZ assay.
