Leishmania sp DNA [Identifier] in Bone marrow by NAA with probe detection

Leishmania DNA Mar NAA+probe

Definition

  • Molecular techniques are used to detect Leishmania DNA in bone marrow samples in order to diagnose visceral leishmaniasis and identify the causative species. Although splenic aspirate testing is more sensitive than bone marrow, the bone marrow aspiration procedure is much safer than splenic aspiration, which can be associated with life-threatening hemorrhage in patients with visceral leishmaniasis.
