Guided Vein PTA addl
Definition
- This term refers to the procedure where a blocked blood vessel is opened. A catheter with an inflatable balloon on the end of it is threaded to the affected area of the vessel. When the balloon is inflated, the material blocking the vessel is pushed against the inside of the vessel, causing the lumen of the vessel to enlarge and allow blood to flow through it.
