Definition

  • This assay measures the percent of red blood cells that have complete loss of the CD59 antigen. The loss of CD59 is associated with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), and patients with complete loss of CD59 are more likely to have hemolysis compared to patients with partial loss of CD59.
