Medication volume of distribution Calculated

Med Vd Calc

Definition

  • The volume of distribution (Vd) of a given drug is the theoretical estimate of the volume of plasma that a specific dose of drug would be contained in if all of the drug remained in the circulation; it is calculated based on the drug dose and drug concentration at time 0. The Vd is affected by properties of the drug, such as whether it is hydrophilic or lypophilic, as well as patient characteristics, including weight and height, volume status, and liver and kidney function.
