STarT Back Screening risk level

Definition

  • The Keele STarT Back Screening Tool (SBST) risk level categorizes patients into low, medium, or high risk of developing long-term back problems. If a patient's total score [LOINC:91351-7] is 3 or less, the patient is in the low risk category. If a patient's total score [LOINC:91351-7] is 4 or more, then the distress subscore [LOINC:91350-9] differentiates between medium risk (subscore of 3 or less) and high risk (subscore of 4 or more) categories.
