Definition

  • Detection of multiple autoantibodies in serum for the diagnosis of an autoimmune-related dementia. Testing is performed to investigate new onset of dementia and cognitive impairment along with additional symptoms, such as rapid onset and progression, fluctuating course, psychiatric features (psychosis, hallucinations), movement disorders (myoclonus, tremor, dyskinesias), headaches, cancer or smoking history, or neuroimaging findings atypical for degenerative etiology.
