Definition
- This term represents the desired target for the patient's 10-year risk that would help prevent atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) based on the Pooled Cohort Equations as published in the 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Assessment of Cardiovascular Risk.[PMID: 24222018] The 10-year ASCVD risk goal estimates are based on the patient's age, sex, ethnicity and optimal levels for other risk factors, such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, diabetes status, and smoking status.
