Population group

Definition

Population groups are based on various characteristics, such as occupation, comorbidities, or age. Examples include public health workers, first respondents, pregnant women, children 3-18 with high-risk conditions, and adults 65 years or older. Population group assignments can be used for different purposes. For example, different population groups may be defined by individual jurisdictions (federal, state, or local) as having priority for receiving a vaccine in response to a public health event.
