Skindex-29 [Skindex-29]

Definition

  • The Skindex-29 is a patient reported outcome instrument designed to assess the effects of skin disease in three areas of patient quality of life, symptoms, emotions and functioning. The Skindex-29 is general in nature and can be used for patients regardless of specific skin disease. Using on a Likert scale of 1 (Never) to 5 (All the time), the patient rates the frequency of each skin disease effect over the preceding four weeks. The Skindex-29 is comprehensive and helpful in understanding the effects of a specific condition, and its wide use in clinical research allows for data comparison. Skindex-29 provides a single score for each area (symptoms, emotions and functioning) as well as an average score. [PMID: 22284137]
