UT-DWCS pnl Ft UT-DWCS
Definition
- The University of Texas diabetic wound classification system was designed to offer multidisciplinary teams a way to easily communicate the severity of diabetic foot wounds. The system grades wounds by depth (grade 0: pre- or postulcerative to grade 3: wounds penetrating bone or joints) and stage (stage A: clean to stage D: infected ischemic). The simple classification can be used to assess and monitor diabetic foot wounds in an effort to reduce amputations. [PMID: 8986890]
