Quick SOFA score SOFA.quick

QSOFA QSOFA

Definition

  • The Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) score combines only the Respiration (PaO2/FiO2), Cardiovascular (Hypotension), and Glasgow Coma Score aspects of the original Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score [LOINC: 96790-1], and calculates each value differently than the original. In the Quick SOFA, each of the following findings contributes one point to the total score, which ranges from 0 to 3: respiratory rate >=22 breaths per minute, systolic blood pressure <= 100 mmHg, and altered mental state. The primary advantage to the QSOFA is the speed of calculation since no laboratory testing is necessary. [PMID: 28110990]
