Maximum clot strength amplitude [Length] in Blood by Thromboelastography.Tissue factor induced+platelet glycoprotein IIb-IIIa receptor inhibited
Maximum clot strength amplitude Bld TEG.Tissue factor induced+platelet glycoprotein IIb-IIIa receptor inhibited
Definition
- Thrombelastography determination of fibrin clot strength, stimulated by tissue factor, and platelets inhibited by a platelet glycoprotein IIb-IIIa receptor inhibitor such as abciximab. The maximum amplitude (MA) in TEG reflects both a plasmatic and platelet component. By including abciximab to inhibit binding of fibrin and fibrinogen to GPIIb/IIIa receptors, the platelet effect on MA is removed (at least partly), allowing more specific treatment of the patient.
