Definition

  • The panel contains results for the detection of various prion disease biomarkers, including total tau protein, abnormal prion protein, and 14-3-3 Ag, in Cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). Pre-mortem testing is performed to detect prion diseases, including sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), which is the most common form of human transmissible spongiform encephalopathy.
