Shock index Calculated

SI Calc

Definition

  • The Shock Index (SI) was originally designed for use in emergency (patient in shock) situations, its ease of use has adapted well to predicting prognosis and need for critical care in patients not in shock. SI is an easily calculated ratio (heart rate/systolic blood pressure) that can be used to assess hemodynamics and tissue perfusion. Additionally, in patients with COVID-19, it can be used as a predictor of in-hospital mortality and ICU admission. [PMID: 34099089] [PMID: 25215048]
