LOINC 2.82

Modified shock index Calculated

mSI Calc

Definition

  • The Modified Shock Index (mSI) originates from the Shock Index (SI) [LOINC: 98909-5] but also takes diastolic blood pressure into account by using the mean arterial pressure rather than systolic blood pressure as part of the calculation. mSI is calculated as heart rate/mean arterial pressure (mSI=HR/MAP). Both low (<0.6) and high (>1.3) mSI scores are associated with increased mortality. [PMID: 34099089] [PMID: 25215048]
