Intermittent hemodialysis panel
Definition
- This panel includes terms to report results related to intermittent hemodialysis, including parameters related to the pressures, volumes and rates of various components in the dialysis circuit, information about the patient's dialysis access, and lab results. Intermittent hemodialysis is prescribed for patients with chronic renal failure and typically involves three- to six-hour dialysis sessions three times a week. During hemodialysis, a concentration gradient between the dialysate fluid and the patient's blood causes solutes in the blood, which would normally be filtered by healthy kidneys, to diffuse across the dialysis membrane into the dialysate.
